Youth String Ensemble

Cantabile Strings is a youth string ensemble for musicians that are a Grade 6+ standard and age 13 - 18.

Under the excellent leadership of Brian Lloyd-Wilson, Cantabile Strings strives for excellence in an encouraging and welcoming environment.

The ensemble rehearses on Sundays during term time from 3.00 - 5.00pm at St Michael’s Hall in Peasmarsh.



Ages: 13 - 18

Grade: 6+ Standard

Commitment: Weekly rehearsals during term time (ten weeks each term) with the possible addition of performances throughout the year.

Time and Place: Sundays 3.00 - 6.00 pm at St Michael’s Hall in Peasmarsh

Tuition: £200 per term

Annual admin fee: £20


About Our Conductor:

Brian Lloyd-Wilson (MA, AGSM, ARCM, FISM) - Violin/Viola Teacher and Conductor of the Cantabile String Ensemble

Brian is a music education specialist with a passion for teaching music through the Kodaly approach. Conductor of: The National, London and Hampshire County Youth String Orchestras. He has also worked with the training of teachers for the British Kodaly Academy. Brian is a virtuoso performer and has performed at an international level as director of The City of London Chamber Players.

Teaching. Brian encourages children to develop quality musicianship, singing and playing skills by applying the Colourstrings/Kodaly approach. This approach is designed to be particulalry child-friendly and is appropriate for children from the age of five upwards. He teaches music as a mother tongue, using the voice as the first instrument, following the natural developmental stages of language learning in the the young child.
